Life Size Iterations

2017–2022

“Iterations” are so named because they iterate the series “Uniforms, Outfits and Accessories” but they moved from purely documentary photographs to dimensional images with elements of whimsy and humor. It was simply my urge to change, alter, construct, deconstruct, add, subtract, and move the elements that make up a portrait to make it come alive, make it visually resonate a little bit more. A quest that demands that a viewer stop, look, and listen, and reflect about what they are seeing.—JPD

This entire series was conceived of and created during the 5 1/2 years Joel was dealing with pancreatic cancer. His last two works were The Mad Hatter and The Taoist.
